I felt so terrible for my dog. This doctor also told me that my dog had issues with his eyes and that his vision was hazy. I bought my dog from a reputable and caring seller. He comes from wonderful bloodlines. He is AKC registered, for what that’s worth, and in all of his medical evaluations, he was never diagnosed with eye issues. He has never demonstrated any issues either. I took him to another vet after this, and they found nothing wrong with his eyes! In addition to these terrible things, I have to say, the vet assistant was extremely snobby. I tried to cater to her, pretending as if she had some wisdom to pass on to me, so that drama would be avoided. However, when I asked her to please avoid bending my dog’s ears, as she petted him, she disregarded me. My dog’s ears stand up nice and straight, but he’s young, and she was literally bending them in the middle, something that could be damaging. She was not inspecting them, or anything that would deem this even remotely necessary. The doctor arrived and dismissed me as well, stating that it’s fine for the assistant to do what she was doing. I wanted to say something, but I bit my tongue. After I left, however, I was extra furious, and I should not have kept quiet. I should have stood my ground. That was my dog. I’m the owner, and if I tell you to stop doing something, you should listen! I’m paying you to do a job for the dog that I own. I’m sorry for the novel-length review, but please avoid this vet office. UPDATE: I see that someone from the company has responded to my review. Here is my response - If you strive for the best possible care, please provide more training and education for your employees. I have nothing to gain from lying about my experience with your office. Everything that I said truly happened, and I wanted to share my experience to help others make a more informed decision. We are all human, and we all make mistakes, but some things are a bit worse than others and need to be criticized in the hope that monitoring and adjusting will be done for the betterment of all. As a company, you should focus on facts, not your feelings. I do not need to transfer anything from you. The receipt that I had received from your office had the information that I needed for my new vet.

I am mortified that I left my pet with people who so blatantly disregard the health and well-being of the animals they are paid to look after.

It turned out that my rabbit was severely dehydrated, had ulcers in his mouth, was underweight from not eating much the couple days after his surgery and was going through GI stasis. If it wasn’t for Dr. Karin Fujitani I don’t think my rabbit would’ve made it. She was incredibly kind to me and explained in depth about what options of treatment we could go with and with her instructions/guidance I was able to nurse my baby back to health. I was amazed at how in depth about care that Dr. Karin Fujitani was and how patient she was with me with explaining things. They also have a cute website called petly.com where you can see your pet’s appointments and info so I really enjoy that. I absolutely won’t take my rabbits anywhere else ever again except for Animal Care Associates.

Mosquitos hatch throughout the winter here, it isn't cold enough to kill them off until spring. I suggest heartworm medication/prevention yr round. I've witnessed treatment of an infected dog. It was horrible! I saw a robust, protective GSD, bada*s, "go down" with eyes rolling up as the toxin to kill the heartworm infection, was injected into him every 12 hrs for-I believe-3 days. Timber was lucky, he survived, many may not, especially if you skip the vet until something goes wrong. I'm horrified by some who, when asked what happened, answer with,"I dunno why she died" or "maybe he ate something bad" or "he was 7 & old ????". None of this needs to happen! Take your pets here & they'll be glad to keep your pet from the "I dunnos" to the best of their ability. Prevention is key! People buy shots at hardware store & while better than nothing, do not understand rabies isn't a part of those ???? or think it too costly to go to Veterinary. The fact is, you save if they get sick & shots here are not expensive. I feel better getting this off my chest & out to you West Virginians, my home sweet home?
