I contacted Newark again with the clinical report from the specialist. Given that the doctor at the Newark did not feel confident to do a second surgery (neither did I), we agreed that I will go with the specialist and Newark will cover the cost. The surgery was done on Aril 27 and since then, my kitten has been normal. The surgery report (as attached) confirmed, once again, that the original surgery done at Newark was incomplete and left with ovarian remnant. I have sent through email all clinical reports and bills from the specialist to Newark right after the surgery. Since then, I have tried my best to communicate with them to address the responsibility of my kitten's case, including multiple emails and at least 4 phone chats. While I appreciate the patience of everyone I have spoken with, I have been repeatedly and consistently told that “we have received your documents and forwarded them to someone in administration, he/she will contact you soon”. The only thing I have heard from them besides that is pure silence, as if they had not done any harm to my kitten and I had not spent a penny due to their mistake. (I have paid more than $5000 and spent many working hours.) This is especially disgraceful considering that they actually have insurance for their surgical accidents, which is required by law and also confirmed by staff at Newark. Maybe you will be luckier than me when sending your pets to Newark, but whenever they make a mistake, my experience clearly shows that they will not take any responsibility. I have proofs of all above information.

We took him back in to see why his eye seemed to be bothering him so much still and the doctor examined him for 2 minutes before declaring he had scratched HIMSELF causing the ulcer and that we should also order bloodwork to run allergy tests. No consideration whatsoever that the new issue could have been a result of their mishandling of the original issue. Just telling us to jump straight into spending more money on more tests and procedures. Now compare that to my experience with the second clinic I went to for another opinion. The vet there was fully present and transparent for our full 30-45min appointment, doing comprehensive check-ups (listening to his heart beat, looking carefully throughout his eyes at the three lids in addition to the pupil and white areas) and talking through her observations, hypothesis, and advice about the various options we had for triaging the issue. It was a much more informative and professional experience than the 5 minute once-overs the Newark vets gave our puppy before deciding they knew precisely what the issue was and giving us a single option of $$ procedure for treating it. To specify at the time of our visits we were seen by two Indian male vets, I can't speak to the quality of any other vets they have on staff. The vets assistants also double as receptionists and overall the communication between us and staff were inconsistent and confusing. Depending on the day they were at times not even on the same page amongst themselves when we tried to confirm something we were told a previous occasion. Overall a real troublesome regrettable experience at Newark Pet Clinic. I have no confidence or trust in their ability to put my pet's best interests first. Attached is the recorded portion of our exchange with the clinic. They never responded or refunded us as requested.

We inspected further and found more fleas and "flea dirt". I emailed the clinic that night and called 3x today. The vet refused to refund us the $32 exam fee despite his lack of a proper flea exam (which seems like a simple routine exam). And now, we're also left wondering if the ear exam was done properly. Keep in mind, the vet never comes out to introduce himself; your pet is taken inside without you; who actually knows what they're doing inside the clinic? I've never even spoken to the vet over the phone. I know they are trying to follow COVID-19 safety precautions, but the doctor should at least come out to meet you especially if it's your first time at their clinic. This was a red flag from the start, and we should've never returned. Learned our lesson a little late, but hoping everyone else will consider this review and go somewhere else.
